The White Snake

D: This one took me longer than my previous submission.



For those of you who are scratching your head (and thinking I've gone all abstract on you <strike>which I have</strike>, The White Snake is one of my favorite German fairy tales.

Here's a story [link] for those of you who are curious.




In short, it's about a guy who eats a piece of a white snake and gains the ability to talk to animals.

... and the animals save his butt from getting killed by the princess he stereotypically falls in love with. She really didn't want to marry him.

I ALSO KINDA MADE THE SNAKE LOOK MORE IMPORTANT/EVIL THAN IT REALLY WAS IN THE STORY. D:




I'm gonna use this as another portfolio piece, haha. I'm thinking about doing The Juniper Tree or The Goose Girl, as well. If I can get to it, lol. D8





Tools Used: 8.5"x5.5" sketchbook page, ballpoint pen + Photoshop (shading/cheap color)
Time Taken: 5 hours-ish
References: None (the fish are a bit FUNKY for that reason, but hey).
