;_; Yeah... this one's kind of angsty.

This is my first time finishing a picture of Cloud (I've drawn him several times, but I don't think I've ever really captured his character in those sketches). It's up to y'all to figure out all the symbols in the picture. :3


Final Fantasy VII is *such* a beautiful game. The deep references to life and death, the dynamic characters- not to mention the 'hero' was never really hero quality to begin with- really touched my heart. I heard that the producer's mother had died before the production of Final Fantasy VI, and you can see all the deep feelings and themes of death he put into both VI and VII. I think that might also be why Sephiroth had such a strange obsession to his mother... it was deeply disturbing in the game, but maybe it held a deeper meaning to that producer. <3

Personally, I like Cloud... not because he's 'hawt' or 'cool', but because he's one giant tragic flaw. He had no family (well, they all died XD), his life was a lie, he had mental problems, he couldn't control his body or his mind... and worst of all, the only person who made him feel human was murdered by a shadow from his past. Everything seemed to be going against him, and it was just really heart-wrenching to see him struggle through it.




I hope I've captured his character in this illustration... he's just too interesting not to draw, ya know? XD




Tools Used: Pencil on [crappy] paper, PSP (final line touches), OC 1.1 (coloring)
Time Taken: About 20 or so hours split up in 2 days. o_O Not a lengthy piece, but I pretty much poured my soul into this one. XD; I'm a sucker for sad scenes like this.
